Just finished reading biography of Gulzar ‘Because he is ….’ written by his daughter Meghna Gulzar or Bosky(name of Chinese silk) as he calls her ….Gulzar as described by his wife Rakhee 'Agar aap shayar na hote to bade hi ordinary hote' …. And I couldn’t agree more ….. If one look at his work of art, one will notice his simplicity, serenity, subtlety, poise and elegance …. Sensitive depiction of interpersonal relationships has always been his trademark and strength ….. But what left me completely mesmerized was the bonding, which he shares with his daughter …. The way he brought her up is quite remarkable and every parent should read this book …. His understanding of child psyche is also evident in his movie ‘Kitaab’ ….. Gulzar is indeed an epitome of a best father that anyone could ever have ….
Here are few lines from his book Pukhraaj :-
na-na,rehne do,mat mitao inhe
in lakeeron ko yun hi rehne do
nanhe-nanhe gulaabi haaton se
mere maasoom nanhe bacche ne
tedhi-medhi lakeeren kheenchi hain
kya hua 'shakl' ban saki na agar
mere bacche ke haath hain inme
meri pehchaan hai lakeeron mein
